Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB on Saturday that the visit by Jacob Zuma, President of RSA to Tehran is his first ever visit to Iran after visit by late Nelson Mandela, then president of the country.
“RSA has an influential role in bringing the continent stability and peace as inspiration for nations seeking liberation of their country from despotic rulers; it has a parallel role with Iran, which has a similar position in the Middle East,” he told IRIB. “Both countries have similar positions on fighting terrorism, support for Palestine, and opposition with foreign intervention in Syrian crisis, and we support political solutions to regional crises as well,” he added.
Jacob Zuma will lead a 180-strong delegation consisting of public and private sectors to Tehran and will arrive in Tehran Saturday night.
