TEHRAN, Apr. 12 (MNA) – Underlining the importance of seeking advice from Iranians, UN envoy for Syria, de Mistura, recounted that humanitarian aids, political transition, and immediate truce were discussed in his meeting with Amir-Abdollahian.

“These talks are part of preparation for upcoming peace talks in Geneva,” said the UN’s special peace envoy for Syrian conflict, Staffan de Mistura, after meeting with Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, in Tehran on Tuesday.

De Mistura who arrived in Tehran early on Tuesday morning, met with Amir-Abdollahian before noon and leaving the session answered the questions posed by the reporters.

One of the questions posed at de Mistura was the reason why some westerners or foreign backed groups set conditions, like removal of Assad, for attending the talks while Iran and Russia hold that Syrian people should decide over their national issues directly. In response, de Mistura highlighted that his visit to Tehran is an opportunity to think of an efficient way for talks and added that he and Amir-Abdollahian had discussed several crucial issues including cessation of war.

"The second point of important issue discussed with Mr. Amir-Abdollahian was about humanitarian relieves which was agreed to be distributed among all Syrians especially those under siege, as the political solution speeds up the immediate transition of power, "underlined UN’s special envoy for Syrian crisis. “But it is very important for me to have Iranians’ advice, because Iranians and their ideas have been very effective and we would certainly benefit from their consultations,” reiterated Staffan de Mistura.
