TEHRAN, Apr. 12 (MNA) – Iranian female representatives at Epee and Foil weapons failed to snare Olympic berths at Asian Fencing Qualifiers in China.

The Zonal Qualifier for Asia and Oceania regions is underway in Wuxi city of China from April 11–12 marking the qualifying phase for fencing at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Except for Men’s Sabre for which Mojtaba Abedini and Ali Pakdaman have managed to get Rio tickets, Iran has deployed male and female representatives to other sections of the tournament which kicked off on Monday.

Competing in Women’s Foil on the first day of the event, Motahareh Mohseni overcame Indonesian, Australian as well as Singaporean rivals in the first round.

Mohseni later overcame the Kazakh fencer finding her way to the top eight athletes while she conceded a defeat losing the chance to reach semifinals.

Also in Women’s Epee section of Asia-Oceania Olympic Qualifying tournament, Mahsa Pourrahmati gained to victories against Indian and Indonesian rivals while she filed to down another Indian fencer conceding a 14-15 defeat.

Meanwhile, Najmeh Sazanchian in Women’s Sabre as well as Taher Ashuri, Alireza Adhami in Men’s Epee and Foil will face rivals on Tuesday in an attempt to secure places in 2016 Olympic Games.
