TEHRAN, Apr. 07 (MNA) – Foreign Ministers Zarif, Lavrov and Mammadyarov underlined the need to boost ties in Baku trilateral meeting in Thursday.

The first trilateral meeting of Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan held on Thursday in Baku having Iranian FM Zarif and his Russian and Azeri counterparts Sergey Lavrov and Elmar Mammadyarov.

The ways to expand ties in different fields, bilateral and trilateral cooperation as well as regional issues were among the issues discussed by the foreign ministers.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif while expressing satisfaction on ceasefire established between Armenia and Azerbaijan on Karabakh, hoped the tension to be settled through peaceful ways.

Zarif also emphasized the need to expand the cooperation between Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia on transportation, communications, railroad transportation, borders, fight against terrorism, banking and cultural issues.

Sergey Lavrov and Elmar Mammadyarov further discussed the Karabakh conflict and deemed fight against terrorism, north-south corridor, transportation and tourism as the most important fields of cooperation while expressing readiness for further expansion of ties.

Meanwhile a statement was agreed upon by the sides involved.
