Hossein Sadeq Jaberi Ansari who was responding a question on Thursday about recent remarks by Canadian newly-elected Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on possible détente with the Islamic Republic of Iran and reopening of the embassy in Tehran, said that the country should show this willing in action; “Canada should practically show that it seeks to drastically review its policies regionally and internationally in a more realistically informed framework which would inspire hopes for a possible détente,” he told reporters.
“We would welcome such a turn in policies of Canadian new cabinet; we have officially announced that Canada has unilaterally suspended political relations and the current situation is the necessary outcome of its misguided policies of the past,” he added.
Jaberi Ansari’s remarks indicate a general willingness of the Foreign Ministry to repair its relations with the North American country in the view of opportunities which welcomed Iran after implementation of the JCPOA. The demand by the FM spokesperson clearly sends signals that Iran is not overall satisfied with the current state of affairs in its relations with Canada, a thing which had ever been obviously felt with the new government in Canada assuming power.
