TEHRAN, Mar. 15 (MNA) – Moein Karrimoodini’s documentary Atlan will be shown at the 2016 Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival (SDFF) in the US.

The 9th edition of the annual Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival will convene from March 17 - 20, 2016 in Sebastopol city of California while Karrimoodini’s long documentary production Atlan will be the only Iranian representative to get screened at the event along with 75 other documentaries from other world countries.

Directed by Moein Karrimoodini, the 62-minute Iranian documentary Atlan tells the story of Ali, a Turkman horse trainer, whose horse, Ilhan, has won for him many times. Ali plans to use Ilhan’s and his other horses’ winnings to pay for his wedding but events don’t go his way.

Horses are the most important element in the life of Iranian Turkmen and horse races are some of the most significant social events in their land, Turkmen Sahara.

Atlan has so far attended various credible international film festivals including the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), Zurich Film Festival and Doc Corner of the Cannes Film Festival as well as that it has been nominated as the best long documentary film at the 9th Annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards and the 17th TRT Documentary Awards of Turkey.
