TEHRAN, Mar. 09 (MNA) – Foreign ministry spokesperson has condemned ISIL attack in an administrative center in Ben Guerdane.

Hossein Jaberi Ansari told reporters on Wednesday that Islamic Republic of Iran “condemns the terrorist attack which killed and wounded government officials and civilians; we offer condolences to the family of the victims of the terrorist attack; the Islamic Republic of Iran announces solidarity with the Tunisian government in its battle against extremism and terrorism once more,” he added.

“On Monday, fierce fighting broke out when suspected ISIL militants crossed the border, raiding a National Guard post and army barracks in a largely forgotten and poor town about 40km away from the Libyan border. At least 7 civilians, 12 security personnel and 37 attackers were killed in the attacks that Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi denounced as ‘unprecedented’,” wrote the Middle East Eye analytical website.

According to the same source no group has as of yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but Tunisian authorities have blamed ISIL and its desire to establish an “emirate” in North Africa.
