Farhad Behnia, a member of the Iranian Auto Parts Manufacturers Association, made the remarks at a press conference on Tuesday asserting “despite certain weaknesses in the country’s auto part industry, there exist factories which produce and export parts to 40 foreign automakers including Benz, Volvo and Toyota.”
“Nevertheless, the existing shortcomings pertain to lack of mold, liquidity as well as production line,” highlighted the official announcing that new agreements have been sealed between Iranian and foreign automakers which can be exploited to expand the country’s automobile industry.
Behnia went on to add that “foreign automakers vigorously seek to enter the Iranian market for its attractiveness and capability to fulfill their demands; therefore, Iranian automakers need to take the most out of the emerging opportunity in favor of national interests.”
“Auto part manufacturers have now received many new platforms to be produced in partnership with local and foreign automakers while we are awaiting the official implementation of contracts,” underlined the official stressing “the engine of a new vehicle to be produced by Peugeot in Iran has become indigenized for up to 70 per cent since Iran Khodro Research Center remains as one of the most capable hubs in the country’s automotive industry.”
