Ali Larijani who was speaking in a meeting with Romanian Foreign Minister Lazãr Comãnescu on Wednesday evening said that since the signing of the deal the Powers had been lagging behind their necessary level of commitment to JCPOA obligations, while Iran had actively engaged in implementation of the deal provisions to build confidence.
“Sanctions still hit Iran’s banking sector which effectively stymie economic and trade exchanges with the world; Iran’s banking sector still suffers the drawbacks of the sanctions. We expect to see rapid and concrete changes in this issue,” Mr. Larijani emphasized.
“Both parliaments will start their new rounds and we hope to see improvements in parliamentary relations as well,” he added.
Romanian FM for his part, conveyed the message of friendship by Romanian president, prime minister and other high ranking officials to Larijani and Iranian officials and expressed hopes that after JCPOA implementation, fresh round of relations would embrace both countries; “I am pleased to inform you of EU’s larger willing for boosting ties with Iran; the EU and Iran are strategic partners in international and regional levels and would effectively contribute to addressing and solving crises as well,” he told the meeting.
Romanian FM heads an economic delegation of industrial moguls to Tehran. “For Romania itself, improving relations with Iran is crucial. We want to have higher-level cooperation with and participation in Iran’s industrial and energy sectors; we also look forward to seeing improved relations as both parliaments will open their new rounds in upcoming months,” he asserted.
“On international issues, Iran and Romania regularly exchange positions to find a level of stability and security in the region; I am sure that the EU will support peace talks; financial support to terrorists should be cut and all countries with a role in the issue should wage political efforts to end the crisis. I believe this is the only viable and effective way we should fight terrorism,” Comãnescu concluded.
