The final encounter of the 16th West Asian Clubs Championship was held on Monday between Iran’s Petrochimi Bandar Imam Basketball Club and Al Riyadi of Lebanon.
As expected, it turned out to be a tough, bruising final match between two teams while the Iranian basketball players managed to carry the day (70-68) winning the tournament’s cup.
Petrochimi and Al Riyadi had previously met in the qualifying phase of the 2016 Clubs Championship with the Iranian team being the victor.
Also on Monday Azad University Tehran team got the better of Champville of Lebanon 113-74 standing on the bronze podium.
Iran’s Petrochimi Bandar Imam Basketball Club and Al Riyadi of Lebanon were awarded Asian quotas for reaching the finals of the 2016 West Asian club championship held in Jordan under the auspice of the West Asian Basketball Association (WABA).
