TEHRAN, Feb. 16 (MNA) – Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi held a meeting on Monday to discuss the new course of ties between the two countries.

Pointing to the opening of a new chapter in Iran-Georgia relations in post-sanctions era, Sarmadi said the special geography of Iran and Georgia is among the reasons to deepen bilateral relations in various fields.

Following a detailed study and design of feasibility within the existing capacity, transportation, transit of goods and energy is of interest to both sides and mutual cooperation is considered a priority, Sarmadi asserted.

Sarmadi underlined that the growing cooperation will lead to economic growth which will in turn lead to regional stability and security. He also welcomed holding of meetings by officials of the two countries.

Kakha Kaladze, for his part, haild Iran’s rich culture and said enjoying a shared and common history has a positive effect on bilateral interactions.  

He pointed to the abolition of visa issueance for Iranian nationals in their trip to Georgia. "The Georgian government is ready and seriously determined to expand all-out ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran and will fully exploit its available capacity."

Kaladze said his country is willing to deepen ties with Iran in the field of energy, transportation and tourism, adding that mutual meetings will implement certain aspects of the road map.
