TEHRAN, Feb. 10 (MNA) – Iranian animation 'A Brief Encounter' directed by Somayeh Yazdanpanah won the award for Best Animation Short at the Nevermore Film Festival in USA.

The 2014 production recounts the story of a dragon who lives in the suburbs and burns the city’s trash. One day, on the way home he meets a small girl and a new story develops. The Iranian work deals with the themes of love and the transient nature of life.

Yazdanpanah’s debut work, it runs for two minutes and 36 seconds and has attended several international festivals so far, including Switzerland’s Fantoche International Animation Film Festival. It will also attend festivals in Poland and Hungary.

Yazdanpanah’s work premiered at Tehran’s 9th Animation Festival in March.

The Nevermore Film Festival returns to the Carolina Theatre of Durham Friday, February 12 through Sunday, February 14 to deliver its 17th year of horror, science fiction, mystery, thriller, animation and action-adventure films. Since 1999, more than 500 features and shorts have screened at the festival.
