The first ever agreement signed will build solar power plant for Iran’s Bakhtar Electricity Co., a regional subsidiary of TAVANIR. The total value of agreement is estimated to be $1mn. Farhad Shabihi, the company’s Managing Director told reporters that British company would design, manufacture, install, and operate the solar power plant of 50mW capacity; “the agreement came only two days after the implementation of JCPOA which effectively removed sanctions which had been hitting Iran’s economy,” he added.
“According to timetable, the next September will be the deadline when the British company should deliver the project; we currently have plans to sign similar agreements for building power plants up to 600mW total capacity to be built in three western and central provinces of Markazi, Lorestan, and Hamedan; the agreement with SST is the first step to improve renewable energies which relied mainly upon foreign investment,” he detailed.
“A small 14-mW solar power plant's consructon will start in Hamedan soon; the SST will procure the required facilities from British domestic industries. The company will also make larger part of the financing of the project and will contribute to engineering and technical parts significantly,” Shabihi told reporters.
“For each 100-mW energy production in renewable energies sector, an annual savings of 100 million liters of fossil liquid fuels,” he added.
