TEHRAN, Jan. 24 (MNA) – Iran’s heavy weight karate practitioner downed the Danish rival winning the bronze medal of 2016 Karate1 Premier League in Paris.

Hamideh Abbasali in the +68kg weight category overthrew her French rival 2-0 before she managed to down Ecuadorian athlete 4-0.

In her third encounter, Abbasali failed to defeat the other karateka from the host country finding her way to the losers’ group where she bagged the bronze medal of the tournament by quelling Italian and Danish karate practitioners.

Iran’s Amir Mahdizadeh, Bahman Asgari, Amir Hossein Kalhori, Ebrahim Hassan Beigi, Taravat Khaksar, Zohreh Barzegar and Fatemeh Sadeghi lost their chances of winning a medal.

Meanwhile, Zabihollah Pourshib is scheduled to meet the Japanese representative on Sunday evening in an attempt to win a gold medal for the Iranian oufit.

The 20th edition of the Open Karate Premier League of Paris began on January 22nd and will conclude today January 24th, 2016.

Karate1 Paris 2016 tournament began with male and female kata competitions and kata team at the Coubertin stadium with 179 competitors in kata and 18 teams.
