TEHRAN, Jan. 13 (MNA) – Iran’s deputy FM and the Russian president's special representative have emphasized the support of Tehran and Moscow of UN’s efforts in reaching a political solution to the Syrian crisis.

In a telephone conversation between Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and the Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov, the two sides exchanged views on the latest movements in the region especially with regard to Syria and the visit of UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura to Tehran.

Amir-Abdollahian stressed Iran’s backing of political solution to the Syrian crisis as well as the negotiation between the Syrian parties.

The two sides underlined that “the issues in Syria and Yemen need to be resolved politically and the insistence on military and security methods will merely bring about a more complicated situation.”

Iran’s Amir-Abdollahian and Russia’s Bogdanov further recalled that Tehran and Moscow stand up to the United Nation’s endeavor in finding a political situation to the current crisis in Syria warning against the risk of increase in terrorist movements in Syria.
