TEHRAN, Jan. 11 (MNA) – Iranian short film Elegy, directed and written by Yousef Kargar, will go on screen at the 8th Sofia Menar Film Festival, which will be held in the Bulgarian capital from January 14 to 31.

In the short film section, Yusef Kargar’s Elegy will vie with movies from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, France, Switzerland, Belgium and Burkina Faso.

The Lady with Flower Hair by Sara Tabibzadeh, Ali-Efran Farhadi’s Selfie and Saman Hosseinpur’s Fish are three other Iranian movies scheduled to be showcased at the festival.

Elegy, produced by the Urmia office of Iranian Youth Cinema Society, narrates the story of an old man who has been waiting for the return of his missing son for 25 years.

Sofia Menar Film Festival makes Bulgarian audience familiar with the culture and traditions of the Islamic world. The program presents the best of Middle East and North Africa cinema productions, including feature films, documentaries and short projects.
