TEHRAN, Jan. 08 (MNA) – An informed source at Iran’s Foreign Ministry rebutted the claim that Iran’s ambassador to Ankara had been summoned to Turkish Foreign Ministry.

The news that Iranian ambassador to Turkey had been summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry is a lie, an informed source at Iran's Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

The official held that the claim was made after Tehran-Riyadh dispute of the past week to instill the idea that Turkey has sided with Saudis in diplomatic protesting to Tehran.

Turkish paper, Daily Sabah, claimed that the Iranian ambassador to Ankara was summoned after some Iranian media reported a link between Erdogan’s travel to Riyadh and the execution of cleric Sheikh Nimr.

Meanwhile the Iranian Foreign Ministry maintains that ambassador’s visit to Turkish foreign ministry was made voluntarily to have consultation over the latest developments in the region.
