Mehmet Görmez who was addressing the 29th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran on Sunday, told that Muslims should be the followers of their leaders and that the Battle of Karbala was now being dramatized in Yemen, Syria, and Iraq.
The Conference was opened in Tehran with prominent figures from Islamic countries and a number of top-ranking officials of the hosting Iran, including Mohammad Nahavandian, president’s chief of staff; Ali Akbar Salehi, head of AEOI, and Ali Akbar Velayati, Leader’s senior adviser.
Görmez called for abandoning of sectarianism; “we all should congregate under the flag of Islam and be ensured that the salvation will come only via this way; we should not allow bloodshed in Islamic lands through standing against conspiracies and plots,” he demanded. “Prophet Mohammad is all blessing for the world people; in the history, we see how Imam Hassan (as) accepted peace [with Mu’aviya] only to save unity among Muslims; Islam hinges upon two principles of unity of God and the unity of Muslims.”
“All should work to see the developments realistically in terms of Muslims security and politics; the enemies always work to sow discord, using WMD. It is hapless to see that part of Muslims resort to violence against the other parts; we need fraternity, what has been the Prophet’s solemn request from us,” the Turkish official suggested.
“Is it not time for being a single voice against the imperialism,” Görmez asked rhetorically. “Today, we see how the enemies target our scholars. We beseech to the God for an end to internecine wars within Islam,” he concluded.
