Hamid Chitchian traveled to Yerevan to attend the 13th Iran-Armenia joint economic commission.
An agreement is expected to be signed between Iran and Armenia, on the sidelines of the commission, on fields of trade, economy, energy, environment as well as cultural and social issues.
On the other hand, a fresh round of talks will be held with officials of Gerogia, Armenia and Russia to join the electricity systems of four countries together.
Chitchian had told MNA that there is no technical problem for linking Iran’s electricity system to EU countries and added “talks should be held with neighboring countries including Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia for the connections.”
Moreover Deputy Energy Minister Houshang Falahatian recently met Mariam Valishvili, Deputy Minister of Energy of Georgia and announced Iran’s readiness to expand cooperation in electricity. “Iran's Ministry of Energy is fully prepared to invest and set up power plants and lines in Georgia”, he said.
Deputy Energy Minister Houshang Falahatian, the managing director of Iran Power Generation and Transmission Company (TAVANIR) and the minister’s advisor Homayoun Haeri as well as Jabbar Vatan-Fada, Director General of Energy Ministry's Office for Border Rivers and Joint Resources are accompanying the minister.
