TEHRAN, Dec. 23 (MNA) – Iran’s Hassan Rouhani has told a meeting of Intelligence Ministry the ministry does not belong to any political party and faction.

President Hassan Rouhani who was addressing Ministry of Intelligence staff and high-ranking officials on Tuesday, said that Iran’s security in the region was exemplary, while the country was actively facing many threats by the enemies; “we should honor those who work unassumingly to bestow security and peace to the country and nation,” he emphasized. “The nation’s vote during presidential election of June 2013 to a campaign seeking fighting extremism and violence clearly indicates the nation’s firm belief in the path of moderation; in no time in history has the extremism succeeded in accomplishing outcomes favorable to the nation; rather, the path of moderation did succeed to lead the nation to terra firma,” he lavished praise upon his presidential campaign of 2013.

Rouhani highlighted the attempts to avoid political rift and to help unite the nation, quoting late Imam Khomeini (RA) and the current Leader of the Islamic Revolution whom recommended on the important matter; “the government has an inherent mission to provide security of the general public who respect the Constitution and live under the national flag of the Islamic system; divide and discord are bane of the country, and we should work together to bridge the chasm estranging some part of the society from some other parts,” he proposed.

President Rouhani dubbed any attempt to sow discord within the nation as treason and examples of infiltration; “elections should be held with a high turnout; however, in coming to such elections, the impartiality and respecting every individual right should be also a priority, especially in qualification of election nominees. In this vein, Ministry of Intelligence should remain committed to the principles of integrity and unbiased examination of individual records; the Ministry should provide the equal opportunities for all citizens to participate in elections either as voters or as nominees,” he demanded.

“You are now the guardian of a great and important entity; inaccurate and biased judgement should never mislead you to the abyss where partisan sentiments and priorities and specific vested interests ruin your career in violating the constitutional criteria of qualification,” president addressed the Ministry staff.
