TEHRAN, Dec. 16 (MNA) – Iran’s deputy FM has said the Syrian crisis will not be resolved unless all countries collectively dealt with terrorism.

During a two-day visit to the Czech Republic, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Europe and America Majid Takht-Ravanchi met with his Czech counterpart Martin Tlapa.

At the meeting, the two parties expressed satisfaction towards the progress made in bilateral relations over the past year stressing the continuation and strengthening of the process.

Several other issues were discussed at the meeting including expansion of political, parliamentary and economic cooperation as well as boosting ties in areas like energy, railways and industrial machinery.

The two sides further touched upon important regional and international issues particularly terrorism and the Syrian crisis.

Referring to the global threat of terrorism, Takht-Ravanchi said “if the phenomenon of terrorism is not tackled by all states and in a collaborative fashion, there will remain no possibility of resolving the Syrian crisis.

The Iranian deputy FM deemed the cooperation between Iran and the European Union as a vital issue emphasizing the need to reinvigorate ties with European countries.

He further recalled the recent meeting of Syrian opposition groups which was also attended by terrorists; “talks will not lead to a conclusion as long as terrorists are involved at the session."

Deputy State Secretary for European Affairs at the Office of the Government of the Czech Martin Tlapa, for his part, said the only way out of the Syrian crisis would be a political solution with respect to the will of the Syrian people.

Tlapa evaluated Iran as a key country in the Middle East; “Iran can play a major role in solving regional issues as well as in meeting Europe’s diverse energy demands,” he concluded.
