Abdollah Sohrabi told in an exclusive interview to Mehr News on Wednesday evening that an official welcome ceremony would be organized at the airport. “The Foreign Ministry’s Arab and African deputy, Leader’s envoy to the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization have met earlier today to arrange for an official welcome ceremony; all efforts have been waged so that a ceremony well in line with the prestige and place of the senior diplomat will be held. Before the body arrives, on Friday, the welcome procession will sit at the airport pavilion with diplomats and the martyr’s colleagues, friends, and family members,” he told Mehr News. “The second stage of funeral ceremony will start in Roknabadi’s home in Tehran, and officially again, in Foreign Ministry,” Sohrabi added.
“The initial diplomatic coordination for arrival time was Thursday which was delayed due to airline issues; Ghazanfar Roknabadi was a committed diplomat, and would spare no opportunity to serve the Foreign Ministry through hard work and a strong sense of responsibility,” Sohrabi lavished praise on the late diplomat. “About other missing pilgrims, we are currently pursuing the case, and Saudi Arabian consulate-general told us that the DNA tests soon will identify the Iranian pilgrims’ whereabouts after so many days of uncertainty.”
