VALLETTA, Nov. 12 (MNA) – More than 60 European and African leaders are discussing in this capital the possible implementation of joint actions to counteract the current migratory crisis.

During a summit on the issue, the participants are analyzing the causes of that phenomenon, the legal ways of entering Europe, protection of refugees, the struggle against human trafficking and smuggling and the repatriation policy.

In that reference, they discuss agreements to speed up deportations of those who are considered not to have the right to international protection and the increase of aid from the original countries of undocumented people.

With such purpose, the EU announced the creation of a fiduciary fund of up to 3.6 billion euros ($3.9 billion USD), in order that the African nations accept to speed up the returning and re-admittance processes for immigrants that are not granted asylum in Europe.

They expect that an action plan that includes concrete initiatives to be implemented before the end of 2016 is approved during the meeting.

Once the summit concludes, the EU heads of State and Government will hold an extraordinary meeting in which they will assess the measures adopted so far to counteract the crisis and the pace of their implementation.

Launched on Wednesday, the summit is to wrap up today.
