TEHRAN, Nov. 08 (MNA) – Iranian short film Elegy, directed by Yousef Kargar, bagged the special jury award at the 7th Azerbaijan Family Film Festival.

Touring the world, the film attended the competition section of the film festival competing with 30 films from different countries including Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Sweden, Russia, Germany and the US.

The closing ceremony of the international festival was held on Friday with the participation of distinguished Azerbaijani cineastes and the representative of United Nations Population Fund.

The special jury award of the event was presented to Iranian Elegy which was accepted by the representative of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran on behalf of the film’s director.

Produced by the Orumieh office of Iranian Youth Cinema Society, the film tells the story of an old man who has been waiting for the return of his missing son for 25 years.

Azerbaijan Family Film Festival is held by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This year more than 400 foreign flicks attended the event of which 40 were picked up for competition.

Moreover, a photo competition dubbed ‘From Life into Picture’ was also held during the event. The film festival was held in Baku from Nov. 3-6.
