TEHRAN, Nov. 03 (MNA) – Iran has extended congratulations to the Turkish government and nation over the Sunday successful parliamentary election.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham while hailing the recent successful parliamentary election in Turkey with mass participation of people, expressed hope that the formation of a new government in Turkey would further improve mutual relations in all areas.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's Justice and Development Party (AK Party) won a victory in Sunday’s parliamentary elections securing almost 50 percent of the votes and claiming about 325 seats in the 550-seat parliament.

Moayed Hosseini Sadr, head of Iran-Turkey parliamentary friendship group, said on Tuesday that the victory of the AKP will restore peace to Turkey as the party “enjoys vast popularity among the public and has taken certain good measure in the past.”

Hosseini Sadr added that Iran-Turkey relations would further develop following the victory of the AK Party, heralding a great number of visits by the two countries’ high-ranking officials.

Analysts believe that the Sunday election results are affected by the recent security atmosphere of Turkey following the two deadly bomb blasts that killed tens of people in the city of Suruc and the capital, Ankara. There are hopes that the election would help end months of tension and instability in Turkey.
