GENEVA, Nov. 03 (MNA) – About 218,000 immigrants arrived in Europe during October after crossing the Mediterranean Sea; 45,000 more than in September, informed the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on Monday.

It is the highest balance for any month so far and throughout 2014, warned the spokesman of that entity Adrian Edwards.

According to the agency, the number of undocumented immigrants who arrived in European territory in 2015 exceeds 700,000, while the death toll rose to more than 3,200.

According to recent reports, most refugees fled to Europe through Greece and the flow of immigrants continues growing despite the weather conditions.

In late October, the UNHCR lamented the loss of thousands of lives in the Mediterranean waters and denounced the violence, exploitation and abuse suffered by women and children during their trips to European countries.
