Following its highly successful attendance in various prestigious international film festivals around the globe, Abbas Rafei’s film production will now participate in the 29th edition of Braunschweig International Film Festival in Germany.
The festival, founded in in 1986, gathers around 280 film industry professionals – filmmakers, actors, producers, composers, press – to see about 170 full-length and short films on six screens.
Braunschweig International Film Festival focuses on young European cinema and film music. The festival gives away four awards worth a total of EUR 25,000, while its main prize is the European actors award 'The Europa’ for outstanding artistic performances and contribution to European film culture.
‘Oblivion Season’ is the story of a struggling but strong-spirited woman who, against all prejudices, tries to assert herself against working women and also against the hostility and contempt of the family of her husband.
Rafei’s production has received several awards at international festivals including the Best Feature Narrative Award at Buffalo International Film Festival (BIFF), the third Annual Rahway International Film Festival in New Jersey, Hudson Festival in New York, the 39th Montreal World Film Festival, Afghanistan International Women Film Festival as well as Brasov International Film Festival (BRIFF) held in Romania. The Universal Film Festival in US presented its Best Film Award to it while its actress Sareh Bayat bagged the event’s Best Actress Award.
