On the sidelines of the 12th annual meeting of Valdai International Discussion Club, the Iranian speaker of parliament met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Both officials were among the speakers of the last day of the event in the Russian resort town of Sochi.
Larijani and Putin discussed regional developments especially the cases of Syria and Iraq the ways to counter terrorism.
Bilateral ties and the necessity of taking advantage of the opportunities to develop relations were among other areas of discussions.
Both politicians urged the international community to act decisively in cutting supporting hands to terrorists in the Middle East.
They also reiterated that the political solution to Syrian crisis is only attainable via Syrian-Syrian negotiations.
“Tactical treatment and instrumental manipulation of terrorists are the biggest strategic mistakes of the last decade made by world’s super powers, as the foot print of major intelligence services are noticeable in formation of the terrorists in the Middle East,” affirmed Larijani.
“Even in the current situation in which the heads of all of states warn against the threat of terrorism, the role of superpowers in arming terrorists and hiding them under the guise of political opposition groups is quite noticeable,” Lamented Larijani over the crisis in the Middle East.
Cross-regionally ignited crisis in Syria has claimed the lives of more than 240,000 people mostly civilians, and dislocated around 4 million people in refugee camps in other countries in addition to 8 million displaced internally.
