TEHRAN, Oct. 19 (MNA) – Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers became champions at 2015 Veteran World Championships held in Athens, Greece.

The 2015 Veteran World Championships was launched on Tuesday, October 13 with attendance of 700 wrestlers from 41 countries who set to compete across the six day event.

At the end of the tournament, Iranian veterans became champions by bagging 7 gold, 8 silver and 13 bronze medals while Russia and Greece ranked second and third respectively.

US team brought the largest delegation with more than 120 athletes followed by Iran with 100 people, Turkey with 90 and Russia with 60.

The opening ceremony had featured a 60-minute theatrical play, which described the origin of wrestling and its place in the Olympic Games.

The 2015 Veteran World Championships wrapped up on Sunday October 18.
