Iran’s ambassador to Indonesia Valiollah Mohammad said on Tuesday Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said are accompanied by Indonesian President’s representative in Middle East and a 27-person delegation.
The delegation includes a group of Indonesia’s oil company, which according to Mohammadi, will pursue talks in the field of energy and electricity as one of the major topics of negotiations.
On the two-day visit, FM Marsudi and Energy Minister Said are scheduled to hold talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, as well as ministers of foreign affairs, oil and energy.
The talks, according to Mohammadi, will revolve around bilateral, regional and international relations, in particular discussing ways to boost cooperation in economic, energy, electricity and petrochemical fields.
Mohammdi further maintained that the visit of Indonesian President Joko Widodo will probably take place in early 2016.
Iran is one of the 16 major trade partners of Indonesia. Figures show the value of Iran-Indonesia bilateral trade relations in 2013 and 2014 stood at $568mn and $430mn, respectively, and given the two countries’ great capacities, Tehran and Jakarta are pursuing to further develop ties in the years after the sanctions against Iran have been completely removed.
