TEHRAN, Oct. 02 (MNA) – Iranian FM Zarif met with his Cypriot counterpart on the sidelines of the 70th UN General Assembly in New York.

On Thursday, on the sidelines of the 70th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with his Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulidis.

During the meeting, Iran’s chief of diplomacy stressed the significance of mutual interaction on regional issues and urged his European counterpart to consider the issues of Syrian and Yemeni refugees in EU.

The two sides agreed to develop joint efforts on dealing with reginal crisis in Syria and Yemen.

Kasoulidis also greeted Zarif for his success in Vienna talks and reaching the JCPOA agreement of July 14, saying that it benefited not only Iran and Iranians but also the states and nations of the whole region.

Referring to different dimensions of Syrian crisis including the refugees issue, the Cypriot official highlighted that a political solution can end the mayhem, asking for more conferring meetings with Iranians.
