NEW YORK, Sep. 30 (MNA) – Following the row of diplomatic meetings in NY, Iranian FM met with his Uruguayan counterpart on Wednesday.

Foreign ministers of Iran and Uruguay met in the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Wednesday in the morning local time.

During the meeting, Iranian FM Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Uruguayan counterpart Rodolfo Nin Novoa exchanged views on the improvement of bilateral ties in addition to examining the latest status of the relations.

Uruguayan foreign minister highlighted the significance of ties with Iran for Uruguay and added that the Vienna agreement of July 14 is not only beneficial for the Middle East, but also merits the whole world.

Rodolfo Nin Novoa voiced his country’s willingness for resumption of ties with Tehran in post-sanctions era.

Mohammad Javad Zarif, for his part, described the good Tehran-Montevideo relations important and underlined the opportune moment of post JCPOA to be a new chapter in the development of the bilateral ties.

He also greeted his Uruguayan counterpart for playing a good role in the international scene and voiced hope to witness a constructive role played by Uruguay over Yemeni crisis and tragic event of Mina.
