Speaking with reporters upon his arrival in Tehran, Rouhani pointed to the Mina incident and mass killing of Muslims, especially Iranian pilgrims, and said the tragedy is not a normal happening and financial promises will not compensate for the consequences.
"Happy days of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Ghadir turned into mourning for the Muslims of the world, especially Iranians, due to the negligence and inefficiency of the current Saudi Arabian government," Rouhani said.
He strongly condemned the Saudi media for making animations of the trampled bodies rather than publishing the real images, calling it an obvious insult to the Muslims.
On the outcomes of his visit to New York, Rouhani underlined that all the world takes JCPOA for granted as a finalized agreement which would bear great economic impacts.
“US economic managers asked us to push US government to lift sanctions and allow them to invest in Iran,” Rouhani said, underling that, “Everyone is impressed by the grandeur of the Iranian nation and welcomes the opportunity to invest in the country.”
Iran was previously considered as a regional problem, Rouhani said, adding that today world confirms that establishing security in the region and fighting against terrorism needs Iran as a major player.
After a five-day visit to New York and speaking at the UN General Assembly and meeting with officials of some countries in New York, President Rouhani cut the visit short to take part in the return home of the bodies of the Iranian pilgrims who lost their lives in a stampede tragedy in Mina on Thursday.
President Rouhani’s visit to New York contained programs including meeting with members of American Think Tanks, meeting with managers of American commercial, economic and industrial corporations, meeting with international senior media officials, attending the gathering of Iranian elites and entrepreneurs in the US, holding an interview with US National Public Radio and The Cable News Network (CNN), as well as meetings with foreign officials, including the Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Hu Jintao and UK Prime Minister David Cameron.
