TEHRAN, Sep. 26 (MNA) – Muhammad (S), the Messenger of God, renowned Iranian director Majid Majidi’s latest film about the Prophet of Islam (S), has been selected for presentation to the 88th Academy Awards in 2016.

Communication Director of Farabi Cinema Foundation (FCF) announced that, “after serious discussions and consideration of all aspects of the six films on the second list to represent Iran’s cinema, the staff members unanimously made the final decision to select the Majidi’s biopic Muhammad: The Messenger of God.”

Obviously, FCF will carry out the follow up procedures of sending the film as well as the required documents to Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The committee for the selection of Iran’s representative consisted of Fereshte Taerpour, Mohammad Bozorgnia, Shahram Jafari Nejad, Rasoul sadr-Ameli, Mohammad Reza Honarmand, Arash Amini and Amir Esfandiari.

During the past 21 years of presenting films to Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Modern Iranian cinema has achieved a reliable background in the best foreign-language film section by two nominees and winning one Oscar prize.
