TEHRAN, Sep. 26 (MNA) – Iran’s Foreign Minister met and talked with his Chilean counterpart on the sidelines of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD).

Mohammad Javad Zarif and the Chilean Foreign Minister Heraldo Munoz met at United Nations Headquarters and discussed several issues including reopening of the Chilean embassy in Tehran and development of bilateral relations in various fields.

At the meeting, the Chilean Foreign Minister expressed his government’s desire to send a senior diplomat to Tehran in order to improve Chile’s political relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran to ambassador level and to reopen an embassy in Tehran which was welcomed by Iran’s foreign minister.

Meanwhile, the two sides exchanged ideas on international issues and the regional crises in Syria and Yemen emphasizing the need for bilateral cooperation in order to achieve sustainable peace in conflict-ridden countries through political solution.
