Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano in the Iranian capital on Sunday.
The two officials sat down for talks on the implementation of the roadmap they signed in July for bilateral cooperation on Iran’s civilian nuclear program.
“Over the past few years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has had good and active cooperation [with the IAEA] in regard to the transparency of its nuclear program and we expect that the end of negotiations would bring to an end the long list of baseless allegations against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program,” said Zarif.
Highlighting Iran’s serious determination in continuing the bilateral cooperation with the IAEA, Zarif expressed hope that the future cooperation between Iran and the agency will help fully eradicate some negative opinions among Iranians toward this specialized international organization.
Yukiya AMano, for his part, deemed the JCPOA a test for world diplomacy and described his visit to Tehran in line with promoting bilateral cooperation.
Amano then discussed the IAEA’s plans and schedules for the implementation of the JCPOA, and conferred with Zarif on some of the developments following the conclusion of nuclear negotiations in the international scene.
The Sunday meeting was also attended by Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as well as Reza Najafi, the country’s Ambassador to the IAEA.
The IAEA chief arrived in Tehran on Sunday for a day of talks with senior Iranian officials on the implementation of the roadmap the two sides signed in July for bilateral cooperation on Iran’s civilian nuclear program.
