TEHRAN, Sep. 19 (MNA) – Iran is planning to promote technological innovations in oil industry by supporting private sector companies, said official.

Secretary of Headquarters of Development of Oil, Gas and Coal Industry Technology Jafar Towfighi pointed that a list consisting of 600 technological products has been presented to the government, asserting that, “we are planning to take advantage of these technologies because they have the necessary potentials for development in field.”

Underlining that all these products are needed in the country and that they will be home-made, the official of the Vice Presidency for Scientific and Technology stated that, “these 600 products are oil industry equipment and majority of them will be manufactured indigenously by applying reverse engineering technique or by improving the level of imported technology."

According to Towfighi, the basic requirements of developing these products have been prepared and the feasibility studies have been carried out which indicated that the necessary capabilities and potentials of producing them are already possessed.

This official further said that, “our objective is to increase the ability of private sector companies for technological innovations by backing them.”

“Our main policy is to support quality improvement of home-made products based on international standards in such a way that Iranian products will compete in the world by helping to strengthen their scientific, research, and technological aspects,” Towfighi concluded.
