Authorities expect that this rate of arrivals continue in following hours, because there are thousands of people in a race against the clock to reach Hungary before Tuesday, when a new legislation will come into force in that nation, aimed at penalizing illegal border crossing.
Currently, larger number of immigrants are traveling on what is called the route of the Balkans (Turkey, Greece, Macedonia and Serbia) to reach Hungary soon and from there, being able to continue to Western European nations, especially Germany.
They are people that are trying to escape war and abject poverty in nations as Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan or Eritrea. Thus, many of them have reasons for requesting asylum in Europe.
Authorities in Belgrade are getting ready to welcome travelers for longer time than usually, because the new Hungarian regulations and the fence it is building at its border will prevent people from continuing their way and many will be stock, awaiting other options.
Meanwhile, Germany said yesterday to be at its reception capacity limit, because only on Saturday, 13,500 undocumented people arrived in the city of Munich and so far this year, around 450,000 people have arrived in that country, according to figures provided by local authorities.
Faced with a migratory crisis considered the worst since World War II, the European Union has not been able reach a common solution, because some countries refuse to welcome immigrants.
