The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of launching and equipping the first international tourist train of Iran and Austria was signed between Fadak economical group (as the Iranian side) and three noted Austrian tourism companies. The meeting was attended by Iranian Vice-President and head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) Masoud Soltanifar and Managing Director of Iranian Railways Mohsen Pour Seyed Aghaei.

During the meeting Soltanifar said “The arrival of tourist trains to Iran was a great success and the new trains and plans can expand national and international tourism and also cut expenditures. The capacities of the trains will double this year.”

Talking about the agreement, Pour Seyed Aghaei said “One of our main goals for backing such a plan was boosting tourism.”

Following the visit of Austrian President to Tehran, up to 15 cooperation agreements have been signed between Iranian and Austrian officials.

The president of Austria’s Federal of Economic Chamber Christoph Leitl has said the agreements are worth 80 million euros and their value can be increased fivefold.

Expanding cooperation on tourism, education, as well as investment projects is among the issues discussed between the two sides, said the Austrian official.
