TEHRAN, Sep. 06 (MNA) – Iran’s sole representative, ‘Unripe Pomegranates’ directed by Majid-Reza Mostafavi will participate in 2015 Focus on Asia-Fukuoka International Film Festival in Japan.

Majid-Reza Mostafavi’s feature film Unripe Pomegranates will represent Iran in Focus on Asia-Fukuoka International Film Festival that will be held from 18-20 September 2015 in the Japanese city of Fukuoka.

Unripe Pomegranates narrates the story of a couple residing in the suburbs of Tehran with dead end jobs. The wife takes care of an old woman with Alzheimer's disease and the husband works as a construction welder for skyscrapers. In spite of their obstacles in life, the two are happy as they are expecting a child. However, an unforeseen incident changes everything, presenting a serious crisis for the couple.

Unripe Pomegranates which is the first feature by Iranian film director Majid-Reza Mostafavi received raving reviews both at the Moscow International Film Festival and the Sao Paulo International Film Festival.

Inaugurated in 1991, the “Focus on Asia-Fukuoka International Film Festival” is one of the major events of “Asian Month” which holds over 50 events that relate to the culture, learning and arts of Asia every September.
