TEHRAN, Aug. 23 (MNA) – Iran’s Minister of Energy met South Korean Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Yoo Il-ho Saturday evening emphasizing on expanding economic ties.

Hamid Chitchian held the meeting with the South Korean delegation, led by Yoo Il-hoo, in which he noted that Iran is keen to enhance its ties with South Korea, its companies and governmental institutes.

The Iranian minister added that Iran and South Korea enjoyed good relations which reduced during the past few years. “We can now boost bilateral ties based on the experiences”, he said.

He explained that the ties based on water and electricity could be divided into two sections; a part of the activities can be dedicated to education, research as well as technical cooperation while another section could be offered to the projects in which Korean institutes collaborate.

For his part, the Korean minister said: “Both the countries have enjoyed friendly ties which curtailed for some time. I hope the two sides will improve ties in various fields.”

In other news, Yoo Il-hoo met Iran’s Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi on Saturday and discussed bilateral cooperation in different areas of transportation.

During the meeting, the two sides explored ways for enhanced cooperation between Iran and South Korea in railway, air and sea transportation fields. The two ministers also discussed cooperation on housing and urban development.
