Upon the arrival in New Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport, the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told the reporters that the ambience of the post sanctions era is the best moment for developing ties with India.
Zarif left Islamabad after his 10-hour visit to Pakistan during which he met with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Sartaj Aziz, Chairman of Senate Raza Rabbani and National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
Iranian Foreign Minister cherished the relationship with India as one of the biggest countries of the region which is also a member of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) with a host of commonalities shared with Iran.
Recounting the agenda of talks in New Delhi, Zarif listed lifting the obstacles of developing trade and economy ties, dealing with regional extremism and violence, and supporting one another on the international stage.
Iran’s chief of diplomacy reiterated that his visit to India creates suitable opportunities for the broadening of ties after the nuclear agreement between Tehran and the 5+1 as well as removal of some problems.
During his stay in New Delhi, Zarif will meet his Indian counterpart, prime minister, shipping and road minister, vice-president and several other high-ranking officials.
On Tuesday on the first leg of his second regional tour following the nuclear agreement between Iran and 5+1, the Iranian foreign minister visited the Lebanese capital of Beirut at the head of a delegation and then on Wednesday he flew to Syria before leaving for Pakistan and India, and is scheduled to visit Russia in upcoming days.
