TEHRAN, May 24 (MNA) – Iranian Navy commander called Iran the biggest player in the region which can confront any aggressor.

Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari made the remarks while addressing a ceremony to mark the liberation anniversary of the city of Khorramshahr from the Iraqi occupation in 1982, IRNA reported.

Navy commander higlighted Iran's 'absolutely secure conditions' and underlied the country's steadfast progress tailored with a spirit of dignity and dynamism.

Following the ceremony and to observe the auspicious occasion, a group of senior military commanders on Sunday paid tribute to the late Imam Khomeini.

Almost two years after the Iraqi imposed war on Iran, the strategic port city of Khorramshahr was liberated from the occupation of Iraqi forces in 1982. The retaking of city was a breakthrough in the war as Iraq expected to keep the strategic oil rich city occupied for ever.
