Most medals on the third day of games was silver won for Iran. Mohammad Ali Shenani was one of these silver winners, where he lost to Uzbek judo player in -73kg class. Iran’s judo team has participated in the games in three weight classes and they will end the career in the event. In -81kg class, Seyed Omid Nouri Jafari defeated his Mongol rival to win a bronze medal.
In football, Iran crushed hosting South Korean 14-0, with 7 goals in each half. Mohsen Khazaei, Hashem Rastegar, Hassan Safari, Farzad Mehri, Hossein Tizbor, Moslem Akbari (C) and Rasoul Atashafrouz played for Iran. This was second win for Iran after first game against Japan.
In wheelchair basketball, Iran’s women team was heavily defeated by Japan 95-14. This is their first international appearance. Iran will play with South Korea in the second game on Thursday.
In track and field, Iran’s athletes won several medals. In discus throw Class F37 Mohsen Majidi Jamalabadi won a bronze. Uzbek thrower won the gold with 53.84 meters. Chinese thrower came second with 52.22 meters. Majidi set a record of 45.35 meters. Iran’s second representative Hoshiar Mahmoudi stood only in 14th place with poor throw of 20.86 meters.
In javelin’s Class F33-34 and in women’s section, Faezeh Kermani threw the javelin 14.59 meters to win a bronze. Chinese thrower Xu Li Juan won the gold medal with a record of 17.92 meters.
In Class F57, Iran’s throwers Mahnaz Amini set a record of 7.92 meters to secure gold medal and Fatemeh Montazeri won the silver behind Amini with a record of 7.66 meters. Mongolian thrower also won the bronze in this class. In Class F42-44, Ali Omidi stood in third place behind Chinese and Indian javelin throwers. Ahmad Afrawi, Iran’s second thrower in this class came fifth.
In 200M combined swimming, Vahid Keshtkar came second with a record of 2 minutes and 40 seconds after Uzbek swimmer to win silver medal. He was the first medal winner in first day of the games in 200M freestyle. Mohammad Hossein Karimi came third with only two seconds difference. Karimi had won silver and three bronze medals before. Iran’s third swimmer Mostafa Mohammadi stood only in fifth place without winning a medal. Shahin Izadbar came third with a bronze behind Chinese and Malaysian swimmers in 200M combined Class SM10 with a record of 2 minutes and 35 seconds. Chinese Lin won gold medal.
In weight throw Class F32 Younes Seifipour won the gold medal standing first with a record of 6.85 meters. His Kuwaiti and Korean rivals came second and third behind him. This was Iran’s 10th gold in the third day of the games.
In men’s table tennis, Hassan Janfeshan was lost in final to South Korean player to finish with a silver medal. Mohammad Ranjbar won bronze jointly with his Korean rival.
