Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, stressed that Iran’s defense program is considered a redline for the Islamic Republic and the Armed Forces, adding “we will never allow our military and defense capabilities to be affected by diplomatic dealings.”
“As stated before, the Islamic Republic of Iran will allow no negotiations on its missile activities,” Jazayeri stressed, reacting to French President Macron’s recent remarks on the nuclear deal and Iran’s missile program.
Macron said he has told US President Trump not to tear up the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, but to become “much more demanding with Iran on its ballistic activity.”
Trump has decided not to pull out of the nuclear agreement, but moved to decertify Iran’s compliance despite the IAEA’s reports all confirming Iran’s commitment to the deal. The US president has given the Congress 60 days to decide whether to re-impose economic sanctions on Tehran that were lifted under the nuclear agreement.
Jazayeri went on to add, “we, as the Armed Forces, are strongly against any negotiations with foreign sides on our missile defense program.”
“Everyone must note that we have signed no international contract on development of missiles, therefore we are strongly advising all sides not to pursue any talks on our missile activities,” he stressed.
