“We have never agreed with anybody to let inspectors visit our military sites,” reiterated Ali Akbar Velayati, the senior aide of Iran’s Leader, on Tuesday among reporters, after receiving Former Foreign Minister of France Ubert Vedrine in Tehran.
He made the remarks after Yukiya Amano, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), told the media on Monday that there is no difference between military and non-military sites of Iran to be inspected.
Mr. Velayati asserted that no access to military sites has been verified in the former agreements between Iran and 5+1. He reassured that if there had been so, the Iranian side would have never signed such an agreement.
“Amano has made up such a right for himself, otherwise, he would inspect military sites of the Zionist regime, if he had been independent,” affirmed the Head of Strategic Research Center of Iran’s Expediency Council, “because the nuclear weapons in the occupied lands are the biggest threat for the whole region of the Middle East.”
The veteran diplomat who served as Iran’s Foreign Minister for 16 years accused Amano of pretending ignorance. He underlined that it is known to everybody that military sites are the forbidden areas of classified importance and treated as security zones.
“In spite of six years of crisis in the region, proxy wars, and the support of some Arab countries for terrorism, and Takfirist and extremist movements, we yet still witness the victory of the legitimate and independent governments in Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq,” stressed the Iranian official.
“These governments are today more stable and enjoy more steadiness than before,” asserted Mr. Velayati referring to the current status of Iraqi, Syrian, and Lebanese governments after years of grappling with terrorism, “the western countries should adopt independent policies in consistence with the realities of the region.”
“Preserving the solidarity and territorial integrity of the countries of the region is of prime importance,” underlined the former Iranian FM, “despite the plots of some countries who seek disintegration of some other countries, the dream did not came true.”
He then restated that protecting the independence of countries of the region is a priority of the Islamic Republic of Iran, “Iran would never bow to bullyism of some powerful countries.”
