'Light Sight' animation wins 3 intl. awards

TEHRAN, Sep. 04 (MNA) – Iranian animated piece ‘Light Sight’ directed by Moslem Tabatabaee has won three international awards from film festivals in India, Italy and US.

'Light Sight' won Best Animation Award at the 2nd edition of India’s Kagil International Film Festival. The short animated piece also won the Best Student Film award at Sunrise 45 Film Festival which is held in the US. Tabatabaee's animation further won the award for Best Soundtrack at Italy’s Luci Della Ribalta Film Fest.

The story of 'Light Sight' takes place in a room in an undefined height which is lit with a white light coming from a string. M.A., the character of the story, is born and the light breathes life into him. M.A. is mesmerized with the white light, but suddenly he is distracted by glowing colorful balls that are decorating the entire wall. M.A. starts playing with these balls which coordinate with his hands. Meanwhile, he takes a glimpse of the light and arrogantly beckons it forawrd. Faced with disobedience of the white light, M.A. orders the balls around with his hand in order to use them to go up and towards the light, but before his hand reaches the light, he is buried under a mountain of balls.

The white light saves him from this predicament. This makes M.A. even more devoted to the light so again he tries to approach the light, but this time with humility. However the balls try to prevent him from reaching the light which leads to a battle between M.A. and the balls.

This animation has also been nominated for the best short film in the third Marietta International Film Festival which is held in the US. It has also won several other awards at various international festivals, including the best animation award at the Social Machinery Film Festival in Italy in 2017.
