Araghchi lands in Moscow

In the course of talks between Araghchi and Ryabkov, as senior nuclear negotiators of the two countries, the latest status of JCPOA implementation and compliance of parties involved in Iran’s nuclear deal will be discussed.

Upon arrival in Sheremetyevo International Airport of Moscow, the Iranian deputy FM was welcomed by a representative of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation as well as Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei.

“In the talks ahead, issued related to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) will be investigated on in a coordinated fashion,” he noted during the welcoming ceremony.

The official said the trend of JCPOA implementation will be talked over along with various issued related to bilateral talks between Iran and Russia.

In addition to seeking venues to bolster relations between Tehran and Moscow in the one-day trip, deputy FMs of both sides are also expected to deal with US breach of commitments to the deal and well as its sabotage by imposing new illegal sanctions against Iran.

Russia’s Ryabkov has sated on Monday that new American sanctions against Iran were regrettable in view of the fact that Tehran has never violated the agreement.

The Russian diplomat further said Iran’s missile test launches do not violate the landmark nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries, including Russia, in July 2015.

“We do not see any special problems in this area. We want to stress again that missile launches with the use of missile technologies are not a breach of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and UN Security Council Resolution 2231. We have brought this position to the notice of the US side as well," the Russian deputy foreign minister said.

Moscow expects that “strict and clear-cut reading” of the JCPOA provisions and Resolution 2231 would be “the main thing in the determination of Washington’s further policy in this direction," Ryabkov added.

Russia, China, France and Britain, as four permanent members of the UN Security Council, along with Europe and Germany, have repeatedly stressed that JCPOAS, which has been approved by the United Nations Security Council as an international and global document, is final and binding.
