In the wake of US failure to implement JCPOA and its violation by extension of Iran Sanctions Act, and based on decisions made by Supreme National Security Council and JCPOA Supervisory Committee, President Rouhani issued separate orders to the Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi to follow up legal procedures of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) known commonly as Iran nuclear deal.
Considering that US government has hesitated and failed so far to meet its obligations under JCPOA, and given the recent extension of Iran Sanctions Act (ISA) announced already as a violation of multilateral act, Rouhani ordered Foreign Ministry to examine the steps envisaged in JCPOA.
Iranian President urged Zarif to seriously address the violations and to implement other international legal proceedings using the reports issued by the Supreme National Security Council and JCPOA Supervisory Committee, within a month.
In a separate order to the head of AEOI, Rouhani ordered Ali Akbar Salehi to perform the following missions in developing peaceful nuclear program in the framework of international obligations of the Islamic Republic of Iran:
1. Planning for the design and development of nuclear propulsion for use in the field of maritime transportation, in collaboration with scientific and research centers.
2. Examining and design of "fuel production" for use of nuclear propulsion, in collaboration with scientific and research centers.
He urged Salehi to offer planning and schedule to achieve the above orders, within three months.
On December 1, the US Senate voted unanimously for motion to renew Iran Sanctions Act (ISA) for another decade, reimposing sanctions against Iran which is against the terms of the JCPOA. Iran had vowed that the passage of the motion will be absolute violation of the deal and it would take retliatory measures based on JCPOA.
