"We think this kind of remarks can put nuclear deal in danger," Araghchi told Kyodo News in reacting to the remarks made by Kerry in an interview with Foreign Affairs magazine last week.
"Regional issues have no business with the nuclear deal and Iran can't accept (the West's) regional excuses as an obstacle for deal implementation," the deputy foreign minister said.
Kerry, referring specifically to the West's agreement to facilitate Iran's international banking access, spoke with the magazine claiming that the United States has "lifted all the sanctions that we agreed to lift" under the deal reached between Iran and 5+1 aimed at reigning in Iran's nuclear program.
Kerry claimed, "it's very difficult when Iran is engaged in Yemen and supporting Assad and Hezbollah and firing missiles that people deem to be threatening and so forth. That hugely complicates efforts to move forward rapidly," he said.
Kerry said his government has been working "to try to make sure that banks that are reluctant to do business (in Iran) for various reasons will do business."
Among other problems, he said, "We need to help Iran recognize that it has some challenges internally it has to deal with relative to its own banking system, to its own business practices, its transparency."
